Election Commission of India (ECI) has made the Voter ID Card application process fully digital since 2020. Indian citizens who are 18 years old can now apply for their Voter ID Card online from home. The process takes about 5 minutes using a mobile phone or computer. After application, the digital Voter ID (e-EPIC) will be available in 15-30 days.

Voter ID Card Eligibility

- Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) can also apply using Form 6A.
Voter ID Card Application Process Summary

- Visit the official NVSP Portal (voters.eci.gov.in).
- Register as a new user or login if already registered.
- Select “Form 6 – Application for inclusion of name in electoral roll”.
- Fill in all personal details, relative’s name, date of birth, and current address.
- Upload a passport-size photo (JPEG, 20-50 KB, white/light background).
- Upload required documents like Aadhaar, address proof, and age proof (PDF/JPEG, max 2 MB).
- Complete the declaration and submit the form.
- Note down the generated Application Reference Number for future tracking.
Through Voter Helpline App
You can also use the Voter Helpline App for applying:
- Download the “Voter Helpline” App from Google Play Store.
- Register with your mobile number.
- Select “New Voter Registration”.
- Fill in details similar to the NVSP portal.
- Click your photo using the app’s camera feature.
- Upload documents and submit your application.

How to Check Application Status
After applying, track your Voter ID application status using these methods:
- NVSP Portal: Go to nvsp.in, click “Track Application Status”, enter Reference Number.
- Voter Helpline App: Use the “Track Application” section in the app.
- SMS: Type EPIC <Space> Reference Number and send to 1950.
- Toll Free Call: Dial 1950 for assistance.
How to Download e-EPIC (Digital Voter ID)
Once your application is accepted, you can download your digital Voter ID:
- Login to nvsp.in.
- Click on “e-EPIC Download”.
- Enter your EPIC Number or Reference Number.
- Verify with an OTP.
- Download your e-EPIC in PDF format.
