Subordinate Services Selection Board (SSSB) Punjab has released a recruitment notification (Advt No. 08/2026) for Jail Warden (Warder & Matron) posts. Total 532 vacancies are available. Interested candidates can apply online from April 01, 2026, to April 21, 2026. This recruitment is for Group-C posts in the Jail Department, Punjab.

SSSB Punjab ne Jail Warden (Warder aur Matron) ki bharti ka notification jari kar diya hai. Total 532 padon ke liye ummeedwar 1 April 2026 se 21 April 2026 tak online apply kar sakte hain.

• Maximum Age (General Category): 27 Years
• Maximum Age (SC/BC Punjab Domicile): 32 Years
• Maximum Age (Pensioned Soldiers of Armed Forces): 40 Years
• Maximum Age (Men resigned from Armed Forces after 3+ years service): 30 Years
• Maximum Age (Men spent 5+ years in Police force): 30 Years
• Maximum Age (Army Reserve Men): 35 Years
• Maximum Age (State/Central Govt Employees): 45 Years
• Maximum Age (Ex-Servicemen of Punjab Domicile): As per rules.
• Maximum Age (Matron – Widows, Divorced, etc.): 35 Years

1. Warder (Only for Males)

• Total Posts: 475
• Educational Qualification:
  • 10+2 (Intermediate) or equivalent exam passed.
  • Punjabi subject must be passed at Matriculation level or equivalent.
• Physical Measurement Test (PMT):
  • Minimum Height: 5 feet 7 inches (5 feet 4.5 inches for Dogras and Gurkhas).
  • Chest: 33 inches (unexpanded), 34.5 inches (expanded).
  • Vision: Normal in both eyes (with or without spectacles), must not be colour blind.
• Physical Efficiency Test (PET) – Male Candidates:
  • 100 Meters Run: 15 Seconds (1 chance)
  • Shot Put (7.26 Kg): 5.50 meters (3 chances)
  • Rope Climbing: 15 feet (3 chances)
• Physical Efficiency Test (PET) – Ex-servicemen Male Candidates:
  • 100 Meters Run: 17.5 Seconds (1 chance)
  • Shot Put (7.26 Kg): 5.00 meters (3 chances)
  • Rope Climbing: 12 feet (3 chances)

2. Matron (Only for Females)

• Total Posts: 57
• Educational Qualification:
  • 10+2 (Intermediate) or equivalent exam passed.
  • Punjabi subject must be passed at Matriculation level or equivalent.
• Physical Measurement Test (PMT):
  • Minimum Height: 5 feet 3 inches.
  • Weight: 50 Kg and above.
  • Vision: Normal in both eyes (with or without spectacles), must not be colour blind.
• Physical Efficiency Test (PET) – Female Candidates:
  • 100 Meters Run: 18.5 Seconds (1 chance)
  • Shot Put (5.443 Kg): 4.0 meters (3 chances)
  • Rope Climbing: 12 feet (3 chances)
• Physical Efficiency Test (PET) – Ex-servicewomen Candidates:
  • 100 Meters Run: 20.0 Seconds (1 chance)
  • Shot Put (5.443 Kg): 3.5 meters (3 chances)
  • Rope Climbing: 10 feet (3 chances)

Salary Scale (for both Warder/Matron): Rs. 19900-63200 (Level-2)

Selection Process

• First, candidates will appear for an Objective Type Written Examination.
• The written exam has two parts: Part A (Punjabi Language – qualifying, 50% marks needed) and Part B (Merit based, with negative marking of 1/4th for wrong answers).
• Candidates who clear the written exam will be called for Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET).
• Finally, qualified candidates will go through Document Verification/Counselling.

• Candidates can apply online through the SSSB Punjab official website: https://sssb.punjab.gov.in.
• Click on the “Apply Online” link available on the website.
• New users need to register first to get a User ID and Password. The User ID will be their Email ID.
• After registration, login using the generated User ID and Password.
• Fill the application form carefully with personal, educational, and other required details.
• Upload your passport size photo (or capture live) and scanned signature.
• Upload scanned copies of 10th class certificate, educational qualification certificates, and other necessary documents in PDF format.
• After filling details and uploading documents, proceed to make online fee payment.
• Once fee payment is successful, submit the application form. Take a printout of the submitted form for future use.
• No changes will be allowed in the application form after submission.
