पात्र उम्मीदवार आधिकारिक NVS प्रवेश पोर्टल के माध्यम से ऑनलाइन और निःशुल्क पंजीकरण कर सकते हैं।
JNVST 2026 के लिए ऑनलाइन आवेदन जमा करने की अंतिम तिथि 29 जुलाई 2025 है।
Important Dates:
- Application Start Date: As per Notification (Registration is open/will open soon)
- Last Date to Apply Online: 29th July, 2025
- JNVST 2026 Exam Date (Phase I): Saturday, 13th December, 2025 (for specific States/UTs mentioned in the notification)
- JNVST 2026 Exam Date (Phase II): Saturday, 11th April, 2026 (for specific States/UTs mentioned in the notification)
- Correction Window: Will be opened for a few days subsequent to the last date of application submission. Information will be uploaded on NVS website/registration portal.
- Admit Card Release: As per date decided by NVS in due course, displayed on the application portal.
- Result Declaration (Summer bound JNVs): Expected by end of March, 2026
- Result Declaration (Winter bound JNVs): Expected by May, 2026
- Admission Process Closure: Latest by 31st December, 2026

Age Limit:
- Candidate’s Date of Birth: Must be between 01-05-2014 and 31-07-2016 (Both dates are inclusive).
- This age criteria applies to candidates of all categories, including Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Class (OBC), and Divyang.
Vacancy Details & Eligibility:
- Number of Seats: A maximum of eighty students are admitted in Class VI in each Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV).
- Educational Qualification & Eligibility Criteria:
- District Specific Admission: Admission is district specific. A candidate who is studying Class V in a district is allowed to apply for admission to a JNV in the same district only.
- Bonafide Resident: Only the bonafide resident candidates from the district concerned where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya has been located and studying Class V in the same district are eligible to apply.
- Study in Class V: Candidate must be studying Class V in any Government or Government recognized school located in the same District during the academic session 2025-26.
- Previous Class History: Candidate must have studied and passed Class III, IV, and V from a Government/Government aided/recognized school, spending one full academic session in each class.
- Repeater/Passed Candidates: Candidates who have passed Class V before the session 2025-26 or repeated candidates are not allowed. A candidate who has already passed/studied Class V in previous academic sessions is NOT ELIGIBLE to apply.
- NIOS Candidates: Candidates passing ‘B’ certificate competency course of National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) on or before 15th September 2025 are also eligible, provided they are in the prescribed age group and are a bonafide resident of the same district where they are seeking admission.
- Aadhaar Requirement: Furnishing proof of possession of the Aadhaar number or undergoing Aadhaar authentication is required. If Aadhaar is not yet assigned, candidates may register by uploading the residence certificate of the parent, but a copy of the Aadhaar Card will be required at the time of the selection test & admission, if provisionally selected.
Selection Process:
The selection process for admission to Class VI in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas is based on the following:
- Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) 2026: Candidates will be provisionally selected based on their performance in the JNV Selection Test.
- Document Verification: After provisional selection, candidates will undergo a thorough verification of all relevant original certificates as prescribed by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti. This includes proofs for residence of District, age, eligibility (including district of study), category (Rural/Urban, OBC, SC, ST, Divyang), etc.
- Provisional Admission: Selection in the test does not automatically grant admission. Admission is strictly provisional until all documents are verified and confirmed by the respective JNV.
- No Re-evaluation: There is no provision for re-evaluation of answer scripts/OMR or re-totaling of marks.
- Wait Lists: NVS will release only two wait lists against vacancies that may arise due to unwillingness or non-submission of essential certificates by provisionally selected candidates.
- Migration Policy: Provisionally selected candidates must note that students of a JNV located in a Hindi-speaking State may be migrated to another JNV in a Non-Hindi Speaking State and vice-versa for one academic year when promoted to Class IX. Refusal will lead to non-continuation in JNV.
- Admission to District JNV Only: Provisionally selected candidates will be admitted only to the JNV located in the district from where they are residing and studying in Class V and appeared for the JNVST. No requests for shifting to other JNVs will be entertained.
- Admission Closure: The entire admission process for the academic session 2026-27 will be closed latest by 31st December, 2026.
