Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has released the notification for Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) 2026 (Advertisement No. 01/UPTET/2026). Interested candidates can apply online for Primary (Class 1-5) and Upper Primary (Class 6-8) levels. This eligibility test is mandatory for those who wish to become teachers in UP government and aided schools. Candidates can submit their applications online starting from March 27, 2026.
UPTET 2026 ke liye notification jari ho gaya hai. Primary aur Upper Primary levels ke liye apply kar sakte hain. Online application 27 March 2026 se shuru ho gaye.

Application Fee
- For Paper-I OR Paper-II:
- General / EWS / OBC: Rs. 1000/-
- SC / ST: Rs. 500/-
- Physically Handicapped (PH): Rs. 300/-
- For Both Paper-I & Paper-II:
- General / EWS / OBC: Rs. 2000/-
- SC / ST: Rs. 1000/-
- Physically Handicapped (PH): Rs. 600/-
- Payment Mode: Online through Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking.
Age Limit
- Minimum Age: As per notification rules.
- Maximum Age: As per notification rules.
- Age relaxation will be applicable as per UP Government rules.
Vacancy Details & Eligibility
UPTET 2026 is an eligibility test. Passing this exam is a mandatory qualification for selection as a teacher for classes 1 to 8 in Uttar Pradesh.
Primary Level (Class 1 to 5) Eligibility:
- Graduation Degree from a UGC recognized University/College.
- AND 2-Year D.El.Ed (BTC) in final year or passed.
- OR Graduation Degree from a UGC recognized University/College and 2-Year BTC (Distance Education) for Untrained/Graduate Shikshamitra in final year or passed.
- OR Graduation Degree from a UGC recognized University/College and 2-Year Diploma in Education (D.Ed) from NCTE recognized institution in final year or passed.
- OR Graduation Degree from a UGC recognized University/College and 2-Year Diploma in Education (D.Ed Special Education) from RCI recognized institution in final year or passed.
- OR Graduation Degree from a UGC recognized University/College and Specific BTC training from NCTE recognized institution in final year or passed.
- OR Graduation Degree from a UGC recognized University/College and 2-Year BTC Urdu Special Training in final year or passed.
- OR Graduation Degree from a UGC recognized University/College and Diploma in Teaching from Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in final year or passed.
- OR Graduation Degree from a UGC recognized University/College and Moallim-e-Urdu degree holders from AMU before 11-08-1997 (for Urdu Teachers).
- OR Intermediate with minimum 50% Marks or equivalent and 4-Year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) in final year or passed.
Upper Primary Level (Class 6 to 8) Eligibility:
- Graduation Degree from a UGC recognized University/College.
- AND 2-Year D.El.Ed (BTC) in final year or passed.
- OR Graduation/Post Graduation with minimum 50% Marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) from NCTE recognized institution in final year or passed.
- OR Graduation/Post Graduation with minimum 45% Marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) as per NCTE Regulations.
- OR Graduation/Post Graduation with minimum 50% Marks and B.Ed (Special Education) from NCTE/RCI recognized institution in final year or passed.
- OR Intermediate with minimum 50% Marks or equivalent and 4-Year B.A.Ed / B.Sc.Ed from NCTE/UGC recognized institution in final year or passed.
- OR Intermediate with minimum 50% Marks or equivalent and 4-Year B.El.Ed in final year or passed.
- OR Graduation with at least 50% Marks and 1-Year B.Ed (Special Education) from RCI recognized institution in final year or passed.
Note: Candidates appearing in the final year of teacher training courses are provisionally eligible for UPTET 2026. However, their UPTET certificate will be valid only upon passing their respective qualifying exams.
Selection Process
The selection process for UPTET 2026 involves a written examination. The exam will be objective type with Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
There will be no negative marking in the UPTET 2026 examination. If applications are high, the exam may be conducted in multiple shifts/days, and normalization process will be applied.
Exam Pattern for Primary Level (Class 1-5):
- Total Questions: 150 MCQs
- Total Marks: 150 Marks
- Duration: 2 Hours 30 Minutes (150 Minutes)
- Subjects: Child Development & Pedagogy, Language I (Hindi), Language II (English/Urdu/Sanskrit), Mathematics, Environmental Studies.
- Each subject will have 30 MCQs for 30 Marks.
- Question Paper Medium: Hindi & English (except language subjects).
Exam Pattern for Upper Primary Level (Class 6-8):
- Total Questions: 150 MCQs
- Total Marks: 150 Marks
- Duration: 2 Hours 30 Minutes (150 Minutes)
- Subjects: Child Development & Pedagogy (30 Marks), Language I (Hindi) (30 Marks), Language II (English/Urdu/Sanskrit) (30 Marks).
- Subject-specific section (60 Marks): Mathematics & Science OR Social Studies/Social Science OR any of these for other teachers.
- Question Paper Medium: Hindi & English (except language subjects).
Qualifying Marks:
- General Category: 90 Marks (60%)
- SC / ST / OBC / EWS / Dependent of Freedom Fighters / Ex-Servicemen / PWD: 82 Marks (55%)
How to Apply / How to Check
Interested candidates must apply online through the official website of Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) at www.upessc.gov.in.
One Time Registration (OTR) is mandatory for all applicants before applying for UPTET 2026. After OTR, candidates can proceed with the application.
Candidates applying for both Primary and Upper Primary level exams can select both options in a single online application form.
Before applying, candidates are advised to carefully read the user manual (Hindi and English) and watch tutorial videos available on the Commission’s website for correctly filling the online application form.
